Council Meetings 2026

Council Meeting Dates

The Shire of West Arthur Council meets on the 4th Thursday of each month, with the exception of December, which meets on the 3rd Thursday to accommodate the Christmas season, and January, when no meeting is held. Meetings are held at 7.30 pm in the Council Chambers on 31 Burrowes Street, Darkan.

Items for the agenda must be received by the Chief Executive Officer by the 2nd Thursday of each month to allow adequate time for research and preparation.

Every endeavour will be made to give the public notice of any special meetings or changes to ordinary meetings.

Each meeting includes a Public Question Time. The meeting agendas are available below, at least 72 hours prior to the meeting, for viewing the items to be discussed.

Minutes from Council meetings are available in the table below or for past meetings on the Publications page of this website. Please visit this site regularly to access a copy of the latest Council minutes.

Please note that Minutes are unconfirmed until they have been confirmed as a true and accurate record by the Council at the next meeting.

Council Meeting Audio Recordings

The Shire of West Arthur creates an audio recording of each Ordinary Council meeting, providing greater accessibility and transparency for our community.

Recordings will be available within 14 days of each meeting and retained for at least five years.

Residents can listen to discussions on local projects, community initiatives, and key decisions at their convenience.

This initiative strengthens openness and community engagement, making it easier than ever to stay informed about Council matters.

As a Class 3 Local Government, we are committed to accountability and inclusivity, ensuring that all residents have access to the decisions that shape our Shire.
