There are three current vacancies with the Shire of West Arthur.

General Labourer/Plant Operator - Permanent Full-Time x 2

The Shire of West Arthur has exciting opportunities for two permanent full-time General Labourers/Plant Operators. In this role, you'll be working within the road construction and maintenance crew, carrying out various job duties and working on various plant and equipment.

We are looking for:

  • Sound knowledge of the operation of plant and equipment.
  • Proven experience driving various plant in a safe and productive manner.
  • Initiative, adaptability, and the ability to work independently, as well as within a team.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of work health and safety practices.

This position is offered at level 3 plus an over-award of 15% of the Local Government Industry Award 2020, depending on experience, with an opportunity to increase after twelve months. Other benefits include the opportunity for overtime, 76 hrs per fortnight (9-day fortnight), adverse working conditions allowance and up to 12% super.

The Shire provides a housing allowance of $60 per week for full-time and part-time employment positions.

Junior Office Administration Trainee - Full Time

Start your career in Local Government!

The Shire of West Arthur seeks a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Junior Office Administration Trainee (Certificate III in Local Government). This full-time traineeship position offers the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in business or administration.

About the Role

As a valued member of our team, you will:

  • Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, and document management
  • Assist with reception duties, including answering calls and responding to public enquiries
  • Support the coordination of meetings, events, and general office operations
  • Learn to use a range of office software and systems
  • Assist with basic finance and recordkeeping tasks
  • Work alongside and learn from experienced and supportive staff
