Community Development Officer (Full time)

Situated 204km south of Perth and 115km east of Bunbury, the Shire of West Arthur is nestled between the forests of the south-west and the wheatbelt to the east. Darkan is the main town and administrative centre with several smaller localities and settlements scattered through-out the Shire.

 

At 2580 sq km it is one of the larger shires in the area and is home to Lake Towerrinning, clear dark skies, unique flora and abundant wildlife. Our significant historical buildings are some of the best preserved examples in the region.

 

An exciting opportunity exists for a candidate with the right skills, experience, and values to join our vibrant, committed and friendly team at the Shire of West Arthur.

Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for the effective delivery of high-quality events, services, and programs for the local community as well as community development initiatives including club development, youth engagement and assisting with the Shire’s partnerships, as required.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth, families, the aged, and community groups from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as being creative and innovative in using activities to bring people together. Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded, however with the right attitude and drive this experience is not essential.

The fulltime position is offered at Level 9 of the Local Government Industry Award 2020 plus 15% above award wages, Housing Allowance, Uniform Allowance and Superannuation.

Mechanic (Full time)

There is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, reliable, and trustworthy person to join the Shire’s work crew, in addition to running their own workshop.

We are pursuing a person with Mechanical experience who holds a current “C” drivers’ licence (HR/HC desirable) for this full-time role with our works team.

This position is offered $30.00 Hourly at level 5 of the Local Government Industry Award 2020, with a potentially additional $5.00 per hour over award rate depending on experience. Other benefits include the opportunity for overtime, 76 hrs per fortnight (9-day fortnight), adverse working conditions allowance and up to 10.5% super. 

3x1 Brick Rental house @ $187.00 per week, will be subsidised and negotiated with the preferred applicant. A housing allowance if required, of $60 per week is offered where not residing in staff housing.
