The ABS is hiring Local Engagement Officers

From 5 January, there are 130 Local Engagement Officer jobs available, including some in our area.
Local Engagement Officers have an important job, helping diverse communities to complete the Census form.
They manage a team of local field staff and build relationships with community groups and key stakeholders. They coordinate information hubs and run sessions to support diverse population groups.
We’re looking for people who are connected to their community and have lived experienced and/or experience working with:
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • people experiencing homelessness
  • people living with a disability
  • youth or older Australians.

Field Manager and Mobile Field Representatives
We’re also hiring Field Manager and Mobile Field Representatives in locations all over Australia. There are Field Manager jobs available in your area.
Field Managers have an important job leading Census work in their local area. They recruit, train and manage a team of Field Officers to ensure high quality data collection. Applications open from 28 January 2026.
Mobile Field Representative jobs are available in locations across Australia. This may include your area, or places that people in your area have connections to and wish to work during Census. Key locations are listed in the stakeholder kit.
Mobile Field Representatives travel within their region, helping Census field teams who need extra support on the ground. This includes visiting households, distributing and collecting Census forms and promoting online participation. Applications open from 9 February 2026.
