The Shire of West Arthur fully supports Contract Aquatics Services policy regarding smart glasses at the Darkan Swimming Pool.
Smart glasses capable of taking photographs, recording video or audio, or live streaming must not be worn within the facility. This applies to patrons, visitors, staff and contractors, even when the wearer advises that the recording functions are switched off.
The policy is intended to protect the privacy of all patrons, particularly children, and maintain a comfortable environment for people using the pools, change rooms and other facility areas. Staff cannot reliably verify whether these devices are recording.
Anyone wearing camera enabled smart glasses will be asked to remove and store them before continuing to use the facility. Ordinary prescription glasses and sunglasses without recording capabilities are unaffected. Anyone who relies on smart glasses for an accessibility need should contact CAS beforehand so their circumstances can be considered.
