NOTICE OF PUBLIC ADVERTISEMENT OF PLANNING PROPOSAL
The local government has received an application to use and/or develop land for the following purpose and public comments are invited.
Lot No: Various (103 properties)
Street: Land generally bounded by Coalfields Road (north), Schinzig Buller Road (east), Bowelling-Duranillin Road (south) and Rajander Road (west), including a transmission line corridor to Western Power's proposed Cordering Terminal Substation
Suburb: Darkan and surrounds (approximately 3 km south-west of the Darkan townsite)
Proposal: Integrated Wind Energy and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Facility and associated infrastructure (West Arthur Wind Farm), comprising up to 92 wind turbine generators (maximum tip height 253 m above ground level), a BESS of up to 500 MW / 4,000 MWh, a substation and operations and maintenance facility, up to 15 km of 330 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line, underground cabling, access tracks, meteorological masts and communication towers, and temporary construction infrastructure including a 300-person workforce accommodation camp, construction compounds, laydown areas and concrete batching plants.

Submissions may be made on the proposal in the period ending on the 18th day of November 2026. Comments on the proposal may be submitted to the local government in writing on or before that day, addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Shire of West Arthur, PO Box 112, Darkan WA 6392 or emailed to submissions@westarthur.wa.gov.au.
Submissions should include your name, address and contact details, the property affected (if any), and whether you support or object to the proposal, with reasons.
Submissions may be summarised and published in an officer report or agenda. Personal details will be withheld unless the submitter agrees otherwise.
The application will be determined by the Regional Development Assessment Panel. Persons who lodge a submission will be notified of the meeting date.
