The Darkan Public Library is situated in the Health and Resource centre (27 Burrowes St, DARKAN) and is administered by the West Arthur Community Resource Centre.

The library houses over 3,300 items comprising

• fiction and non-fiction books
• Large print books
• videos
• audio recordings (CD and cassette)
• CD-Roms

There are 6 exchanges per year.   Each exchange has roughly 80 items.

The West Arthur Herbarium is housed in the library. It's valued at over $50,000 and has been put together entirely by volunteers (mainly Val Crowley & Jan Smith) & with some support from the Western Australian Herbarium at Kings Park.
